Six people sustained minor injuries in a suspected grenade attack in Muhoza Sector, Musanze District yesterday. The incident occurred at around 7:30p.m near a military patrol, according to police. The injured were briefly admitted at Ruhengeri Hospital but have since been discharged, authorities said. The Northern Province Regional Police Spokesperson, Superintendent Emmanuel Hitayezu, said the grenade was thrown by a person who was traveling on a motorcycle. He said the motorcyclist and the passenger sped off immediately. It is the second grenade attack in Musanze this month alone. On January 6, a grenade blast killed a one-and-a-half-year old girl on spot and injured two others at the home of the Mayor of Musanze District. In December last year unidentified people shot dead a police officer in the same sector. By press time, no arrests had been made and investigations are ongoing.
